Part 2 (Read “Soul Food” Part 1)
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases…Psalm 103:2-3
When we hurt for so long, sometimes we become very good at ignoring matters of the heart. We bury pain and it reveals itself later in life. Difficult or traumatic memories, whether physical or emotional can stay with us for years.
God has made us with a body, soul and spirit. While the body will one day be gone, our soul and spirit are intertwined and we are the same person, but healed and whole, in eternity. However, we can be free from hurt and pain that lingers in the corners of our hearts today. Our soul is where our mind, will and emotions keep a check list of the past. It forever stays in the memory of our mind, affects our emotions and sways our will, in how we make choices. For example, if you hurt your knee by falling down the stairs, when you approach those stairs again, in your MIND, you will recall that you fell down those stairs. Your EMOTIONS are involved because you will also recall and respond to the pain and trauma of that tumble. Since you remember the pain, your WILL causes you to choose to be more careful to go down those stairs again. Although this example may not be as serious as other things that cause pain in our hearts, God does have a remedy for your soul.
The mind is an open door to the world around you. Renew and transform your mind through the Word of God. As Ephesians 3:19 says, be rooted in his love and filled with the fullness of God. The next verse says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly ABOVE ALL that we ask or think, ACCORDING TO THE POWER (resurrection life and power of God) that works in us.” The remedy of our soul is the resurrection power of God that is already working in us. His power brings healing, renewing of our minds, bringing wholeness to our body, and soul and to strengthen our spirit.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, I come before your throne of Grace, asking for your mercy and grace. Jesus forgive me of my sins and wash me clean, that I may be filled with the fullness of God. Work in me through the power of your Holy Spirit dwelling in me. I desire to receive your healing and restoration in my soul, spirit and body, that I may be a greater blessing to others and give you all the glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
