From Advent to New Year Series

Every day, when Dad came home from work, his little boy leaped from the couch, springing from his feet. Every time, without fail, his Dad caught him. One day, a visitor was in the house when Dad came home from work. There was no hesitation as the little boy jumped with his arms stretched outward. His Dad caught him and they embraced with laughter. The visitor cautioned, “I don’t think you should let him jump like that. You may not catch him next time.” The Father responded, “Oh I will always catch him.”
We know the story of Peter in the boat, who saw Jesus walking on the water. For fear it may be a ghost, Peter called out, “Lord, if it is you, let me come to you.” Jesus called him to come. Peter fixed his eyes on Jesus and walked on water, until he panicked. He began to sink and cried out for Jesus to save him. Jesus reached into the water and pulled Peter up to safety.
Trust is a hard thing when you have been let down so many times. There is only one who is surely trustworthy and that is Jesus. While we are human and make mistakes, we can always get back on track. What is your dream? Where do you want to walk? Many times we forfeit dreams because of fear. We know it’s a risk and we’re never sure we’ll recover from the loss. He may lead you to give up something that is hard for you, money, time, even the most precious possessions. He may lead you to go somewhere, or to do something that seems like it’s not the usual or normal. Leap out and let him catch you. Remind yourself that he called you. He will keep you standing on steady ground. He will never fail you. He will always catch you, when you take a leap of faith and answer his call. Begin by taking steps, when you hear his voice call you, “Come.”
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to trust you even when it seems like I’m slipping. Hold my hand and as your love surrounds me, let all the fear and bondage go. I desire to walk forward into the dreams, calling and good works that you have prepared for me. I am waiting to hear your voice lead me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
