Inspiration:“You have granted me life and favor, And Your care has preserved my spirit.” ~ Job 10:12, New King James Version
My definition of self-care is the intentional focus of the heart, mind and will to do what is necessary to care for the most valuable asset given to us by God other than His Son, Jesus Christ – OURSELVES. In order to care for others properly and to pursue the possibilities that resonate with our purpose, we must ensure that we intentionally focus ongoing effort not just on the work at hand and others, but on placing ourselves on our own “to-do” list daily without feeling guilty. If we take the time to nurture our own spirit, mind, and body, then we can better serve those who need what we have to offer.
Prayer to Ignite Action:
Dear Lord, You are the giver and sustainer of my life–an asset that is to be appreciated and valued by me and those closest to me. Help me to put myself on my own to-do list by carving out time to care for the health and growth of my spirit, intellect, physical body and social relationships. As I spend quality time tending to my own needs, I will be able to better serve other people within my sphere of influence. Thank You for reminding me to practice self-care today. In Jesus‘ name. Amen.
